A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district claimed the lives of three people and left three others seriously injured on Monday morning. The incident took place near Sathariya bridge under the Mungra Badshahpur police station area on the Jaunpur–Rae Bareli highway.

According to reports, the accident happened around 6 AM when a passenger auto-rickshaw was traveling from Machhlishahr toward Mungra Badshahpur. Near the culvert close to Sathariya bridge, a speeding truck crashed into the auto with great force.

The collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely damaged and overturned into a roadside ditch. Local people rushed to the spot after hearing the loud impact and informed the police immediately.

Police officials, including Station House Officer Ashwini Kumar Dubey and outpost in-charge Dhananjay Rai, quickly reached the accident site and began rescue operations. The trapped passengers were pulled out and taken to the Community Health Center in Sathariya for emergency treatment.

Doctors declared three people dead upon arrival, while the remaining injured victims were referred to the district hospital for advanced treatment due to their critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Pramod Kumar Mishra (53), Shiv Shankar Sharma (53), and Barsati (42). The injured include Rakesh Bind (32), Pranav Pandey (19), and Ajit Yadav (36).

After the accident, the truck driver fled from the scene along with the vehicle. Police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver and are investigating the matter further.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination. The tragic incident has created grief among the families and residents of the area.

This accident once again highlights the growing concern over road safety and rash driving on busy highways in Uttar Pradesh.
